What kind of procedures should I undergo and what tax do I need to pay for that car
Hi! I\'m planning to import a used vehicle from japan, production year - 96, 2L engine, with a price under 10000USD. What kind of procedures should I undergo and what tax do I need to pay for that car. Can I possibly register that car in Beijing and drive a right-steering wheel car? Thank you!

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thanks for your attention to ETCN.

We want to advise that import of motor car into China can be rather complicated and often not encouraged. First, the declared value may be arguable, and should comprise the freight charge and other fees that are necessary to bring the car into China. Second, the tax rates provided by the Forum are from official sources but still they are at best indicative only. Third, only qualified persons who are residents of China or those who have investments in China can apply from local Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau to import a car from abroad. Normally no right-steering car is allowed in China. The local Bureau of Public Security is the licensing authority of motor vehicles in the Mainland.
